A new pizza place, 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, opened in Omaha on Thursday.

The restaurant is at 17676 Welch Plaza and is part of a Sioux City-based chain that has locations around the country. Its website shows a planned second location in Elkhorn, at 1405 S. 204th St.

The restaurant serves a variety of customizable pizzas in 10- and 14-inch sizes on both regular and gluten-free crusts. A thicker pizza crust, called the Roman style, also is available.

Each pizza is cooked in a custom-built Neapolitan oven that reaches 1,000 degrees and cooks in an average of two minutes. The menu also includes salads, breadsticks and fire-roasted wings.

New restaurants not only bring jobs, but they also bring vendor and construction opportunities for local firms.

The chain offers 12 specialty pizzas, including favorites like the Barbecue Bourbon Chicken, which features sweet and smoky bourbon barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, red onion, pineapple, shredded Grande brand mozzarella and blue cheeses. Pizzas are fired at 1000 degrees in a Neapolitan brick oven and cook in about two minutes.

It’s all about options at 1000 Degrees, where patrons can get a 10-inch or 14-inch pizza with seven different meat options, 12 types of veggies and eight varieties of cheeses and sauces, all assembled in front of your eyes. Pizza crusts are a classic Neapolitan style, or a Roman style that is a thicker variety that’s rolled out into more of a flatbread.
