1000 degrees pizza in Sioux City, IA

Life of pie: 1000 Degrees Pizzeria heats up the competition

That’s what Scott Salem, co-general manager of 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, told his employees a few days prior to the restaurant’s May 18 opening.

“The dough must be soft and airy,” he explained, “but it also has to have a good crust.”

For the past several weeks, Salem, along with his co-general manager Jesse Miller, had been holding a pizza-making boot camp at 1000 Degrees’ 1388 Hamilton Blvd., location.

Not only was it important to allow the hand-tossed dough to proof for 48 hours, it was equally important to have the freshest of ingredients.

After all, the 1000 Degrees — a 3-year-old New Jersey-based pizza chain — is known for featuring an incredible number of toppings.

“While we have more than 10 signature pizzas, we also offer unlimited toppings for one flat price whenever a customer wants to create his own pizza,” Salem said. “For instance, a customer can choose the size of crust as well as a sauce, cheese, meats and a pick of any veggies.”

“You can literally create a different pizza every time you walk into 1000 Degrees,” interjected Miller.

Similar to a Subway or Chipotle restaurant, a 1000 Degrees customer will walk in and order through a build-your-own pizza type assembly line. The made-to-order pizzas are then cooked in a 1000-degree Neapolitan brick oven in just two minutes.

“That’s the key,” Miller said. “It may take a customer three minutes to personalize his order and another two minutes for the pizza to bake.”

“So, in a little more than five minutes, our customer will have a piping hot  pizza,” Salem added. “It’s as simple as that.”

Both Salem and Miller were formerly with Bev’s on the River. Looking for a new venture, they were drawn to 1000 Degrees, a growing franchise with locations in more 20 states.

“Since Sioux City’s 1000 Degrees is the first location in Iowa, we get to set the standard,” Miller said. “Plus, it’s exciting to bring this new concept to Siouxland.”

Salem nodded his head in agreement.

“Our restaurant is fresh, fun and has really good pizza,” he said with a grin. “I mean who doesn’t like pizza.”

At 1000 Degrees, pizzas come in 10- and 14-inch sizes in addition to a gluten-free crust that is available on request. Customers have the choice of ordering such signature pies as the Hawaiian Fire (Canadian bacon, banana peppers, pineapple, shredded mozzarella and a spicy Sriracha marinara); the Tuscan Chicken (grilled chicken, spinach, shredded mozzarella, asiago and marinated balsamic sun-dried tomatoes); and the Meatza (pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, crumbled meatballs, shredded mozzarella and a signature marinara).

“OK, what’s your favorite pizza?” Salem asked Miller. “Personally, I go back and forth between our White Out pizza (fresh mushrooms, garlic, Parmesan, shredded mozzarella and extra virgin olive oil) and the Buffalo Chicken (grilled chicken, blue cheese crumbles, shredded mozzarella and Buffalo sauce).”

“Our Buffalo chicken pizza is amazing,” Miller said.

Not in the mood for pizza? 1000 Degrees also offers salads and customizeable, fire-roasted wings that come in six flavors.

As his employees makes practice pies, Salem is satisfied with their level of skill.

“Fast-casual restaurants are the rage across the country and what sets 1000 Degrees apart from the rest is the quality of our food and the quality of our people,” he said. “Taken together, that’s a winning combination.”

1000 Degrees Franchise opens 2 shops in Orlando Area

pizza franchise

By   – Reporter, Orlando Business Journal

A New Jersey pizza brand has signed on a franchisee to open its first Orlando stores and create up to 36 new jobs.

Matt Peach, an Orlando resident and new franchisee of Bridgewater, N.J.-based 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza, is opening the brand’s first two eateries in the area by the end of the year, he told Orlando Business Journal. Letters of intent are out for two locations — one in Windermere and one in Winter Park — but Peach also is eyeing new construction near the Mall at Millenia.

A specific Millenia-area location was not given, but Peach said it’s near Super Target and Costco, which aligns with the new Millenia Plaza Way commercial construction that will include Pei Wei Asian Diner and Zoës Kitchen, as previously reported by OBJ.

Each new 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza will create 16-18 jobs, and applications for those will open in October, Peach said.

Customization is the top factor at 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza. Fifteen specialty pizzas like Hawaiian Fire — spicy sriracha marinara, shredded mozzarella, Canadian bacon, banana peppers and pineapple chunks — and a make-your-own option are available.

“In my opinion, it’s a totally different pizza experience. You go to the line, pick out all your own toppings, it’s put in a brick oven and about 2 minutes later you have the pizza,” Peach said.

Beyond the first two, even more 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza locations are on Peach’s radar. Submarkets he’s eyeing are east Orlando near the University of Central Florida, Altamonte Springs, Oviedo and Kissimmee, he said.

New restaurants not only bring jobs, but they also bring vendor and construction opportunities for local firms.

The chain offers 12 specialty pizzas, including favorites like the Barbecue Bourbon Chicken, which features sweet and smoky bourbon barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, red onion, pineapple, shredded Grande brand mozzarella and blue cheeses. Pizzas are fired at 1000 degrees in a Neapolitan brick oven and cook in about two minutes.

It’s all about options at 1000 Degrees, where patrons can get a 10-inch or 14-inch pizza with seven different meat options, 12 types of veggies and eight varieties of cheeses and sauces, all assembled in front of your eyes. Pizza crusts are a classic Neapolitan style, or a Roman style that is a thicker variety that’s rolled out into more of a flatbread.

Hand-tossed Neapolitan pizza now offered in Katy

1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza, a fast-casual American spin on authentic, hand-tossed Neapolitan pizza, came to the Katy area on Feb. 9. The new restaurant is located at 24600 Katy Freeway, next to the Field & Stream and Bed Bath and Beyond.

1000 Degrees serves personalized, made-to-order Neapolitan pizza. Each pizza starts with fresh, never frozen, hand-tossed dough, created with Neapolitan flour and available in both a personal 10-inch and sharable 14-inch sizes. Guests then choose to create their own pizza or order one of the 1000 Degrees Favorites.

The Katy 1000 Degrees location is the third in the greater Houston area, and is owned and operated by local entrepreneur John Bock of Bock Restaurants LLC, along with his wife, Brenda, and friends Travis and Elizabeth Masterson.

Bock has worked in the restaurant industry for 22 and currently works in real estate, while his wife Brenda teaches in the Early Childhood Autism program in the Katy Independent School District. Travis is a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army.

Robert Rankin, an experienced restaurant manager in the area, will step in as director of operations.

As longtime residents of the Katy area, the entrepreneurs were drawn to the brand’s authenticity, proprietary oven and devotion to serving fresh, high quality ingredients. The entrepreneurial team is set to open two more 1000 Degrees locations in Sugar Land and Spring later this year.

“We’re thrilled to open our first 1000 Degrees location in our hometown of Katy. We want to give back to this great community and we look forward to opening our doors and sharing our love for premium fast-casual pizza with the residents of Katy,” said Bock.

Customers can choose to top their pizzas with any of the more than 35 cheeses, sauces, meats, vegetables and other toppings all for one flat price. While choosing their toppings, customers are guided down an assembly line of pizza consultants to create their pizza. 1000 Degrees Katy also offers customers the option to BYOB.

Outside of the build your own option, there are more than 12 varieties of specialty pizzas including favorites like The Smokey Pollo, also known as Barbecue Bourbon Chicken, which features sweet and smoky bourbon barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, red onion, pineapple, shredded Grande brand mozzarella and blue cheeses, and The Philly, which is a cheese steak pizza topped with thinly sliced rib-eye, caramelized Spanish onions, balsamic glaze, shredded Grande brand mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Pizzas are then fired at 1000 degrees in a custom, handmade, revolving Neapolitan brick oven in just two minutes.

“We’re thrilled to further expand our brand throughout Texas,” said 1000 Degrees CEO/founder Brian Petruzzi.

Unlike traditional Neapolitan pizza which has a slightly undercooked center and requires a fork and knife to eat, 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza has fused this classic style with American flare. The result is a thin crust pizza that maintains the light and airy appeal of a Neapolitan-style pizza.

1000 Degrees Katy is open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. To learn more about 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza or to be part of its daily free pizza contests, visit www.facebook.com/1000-Degrees-Neapolitan-Pizzeria-of-Katy or call 281-547-1087.

1000 DEGREES NEAPOLITAN PIZZA REVIEW – FEDERAL HEIGHTS

A few weeks ago, I was asked to check out a new pizza restaurant in Colorado, 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza. As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I was stoked to try out a new spot. To be totally honest, I was skeptical a franchise could create a real Neapolitan pizza. Having spent a lot of time in Italy, I have had some of the best Neapolitan style pizza in the world. I also search out the best pizza joints in any town I visit. So basically, I can be a pizza snob, especially when it comes to Neapolitan style pizzas.

The verdict? AMAZING! 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza is delicious. Authentic Neapolitan pizza is a thin crust with slightly burnt edges from being cooked at almost 900 degrees. 1000 Degrees dough is made fresh daily and hand tossed. Each pizza is assembled in front of you as you order. Once completed they are placed in 1000 Degree’s specially made ovens that cook your pizza to perfection in about 2 mins.

The result is perfectly thin and crispy, burnt edge Neapolitan pizza you would expect from a fancy Italian restaurant. But it’s not, it’s from a quick service joint and every pizza is under $9.00! Plus gelato and a great selection of beer and wine,1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza is all my pizza dreams come true!

I was honestly taken aback my how good the crust was. In a moment of weakness, I ordered the bacon mac and cheese pizza, while totally delicious, not really the best pizza to accompany this amazing Neapolitan crust. Next time I’ll be ordering The Tuscan Chicken or Classic Margarita.

1000 Degrees currently only has one location in Federal Heights, but will soon open multiple locations across the Denver metro area and Boulder. This place is going to kill, in Boulder!

P.S. Wednesday Night is Student Night at the Federal Heights locations. Show your student ID to get a pizza and fountain drink for $7.00.

P.P.S. You can also order online for pick up – jackpot!
